Overview
The Division (C&I) in the College of Education at Cal State LA offers a variety of programs to students pursuing a baccalaureate or master’s degree, teaching credential, or authorization. Our programs, including the Urban Learning Program, Multiple and Single Subject Teacher Credentials, Teacher Induction Program, Master of Arts in Education, and Bilingual Added Authorization, cater to aspiring and current teachers and those interested in educational services. Our focus is on preparing individuals for successful careers in education.
The multiple subject and single subject teaching credentials are specifically designed for those interested in a teaching career. These credentials provide comprehensive preparation for future educators to work with students at different grade levels and specialize in teaching various subjects or a specific subject area within the California public school system.
Both programs are available to undergraduate students pursuing a Bachelor’s degree concurrently and postbaccalaureate students. Undergraduates majoring in Chicano Studies, Liberal Studies, and Urban Learning have the opportunity to earn a multiple subject credential alongside their Bachelor’s degree. This credential equips them with the necessary skills and knowledge to teach various subjects in elementary school.
