Course Description: This course provides an overview of the various ways that childhood(s) has been conceptualized, researched, and understood as a social phenomenon and social institution. The impact of race, identity, cultural positioning, and mechanisms of power upon social-historical understandings and conceptions of childhood(s) across various settings will be studied and investigated.
