The Undergraduate program includes a major for the Bachelor of Arts and a Minor for students majoring in other fields.

The total number of units required for the Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish is 120 units, of which 48 units are in the major. Consult with an advisor for the specific number of units required in all areas of the degree including GE and free electives.

Prior to beginning the Bachelor of Arts program in Spanish, students must have completed the second year of college-level Spanish or demonstrate equivalent language competency on the department’s placement examination.

 

Requirements for the Major (48 units)


All students complete a Common Core of 3 lower division units and 24 upper-division units. These courses are the following:

ML 1010  - Introduction to Higher Education for Modern Languages and Literatures Majors (3)

Electives (21 units)


Students must complete the core courses (see above) and 21 additional units from the following groups of electives.
