Course Description: This course provides an overview of gender-based violence from a transnational and cross-cultural perspective. Gender-Based Violence, in this regard, is broadly conceptualized to include structural as well as interpersonal forms of violence; socio-economic policies that make survival precarious; violence sanctioned by tradition, culture and religion and violence committed during times of peace as well as war. The course is organized around key topics including inequalities, labor, colonialism, development, nationalism, health, violence, war, and fundamentalism. Credit Hours: 3 lecture hour(s) per week
