Program Overview

The M.S. Degree in Accounting prepares students for a wide range of employment opportunities in public accounting, industry and finance, government and nonprofit organizations.  The program is designed to help acquire knowledge and skills in one or more accounting areas:

Graduates of the program are prepared to take a professional examination for entry into their selected area;  are committed to professional and career development beyond their formal education; are equipped to become leaders who exhibit high standards of ethical conduct; and are prepared for doctoral study programs or research positions.

Admission to the Program

  1. Applicants must complete 12 units of foundation business courses: CIS 1200 , ECON 2090 , FIN 2050 , and BUS 3050 
  2. Applicants must complete 15 units of foundation accounting courses: ACCT 2100  and ACCT 2110  or equivalent courses; ACCT 3200A , ACCT 3200B ACCT 3210 , and ACCT 3220 .
  3. Students must earn a minimum of a C grade in their Accounting Foundation courses. An approved Graduate Degree Program must be on file in the CBE Student Service Center. A minimum GPA of 3.00 is required for admission to the M.S. Degree in Accounting.

Once students have completed the business and accounting foundation courses, they achieve Graduate Standing.
