Minor in History

Location(s): Main Campus

The Undergraduate Minor in History is open to Cal State L.A. undergraduate students from all majors and disciplines who are not majoring in History or History’s Teacher Preparation Option.

The 18-unit program includes a sequence of courses with the same general objectives as the History major, allowing for a deeper understanding of societal development in all aspects of experience and environment, and of the relevance of the past to the present.

The program permits pursuit of a wide range of interests within the purview of historical methodology, and may be of particular interest to students planning for careers in fields where knowledge of the historical diversity and background of human cultures and societies is essential: business, journalism, communications, law, nursing, social work, international relations, political science, sociology, anthropology, etc.
