Overview

The Undergraduate program includes a major for the Bachelor of Arts and a Minor for students majoring in other fields.
The total number of units required for the Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish is 120 units, of which 48 units are in the major. Consult with an advisor for the specific number of units required in all areas of the degree including GE and free electives.
Prior to beginning the Bachelor of Arts program in Spanish, students must have completed the second year of college-level Spanish or demonstrate equivalent language competency on the department’s placement examination.

Requirements for the Major (48 units)

Complete 27 units of following common core courses:

Lower Division Required Course (3 units)

ML 1010 - Introduction to Higher Education for MLL Majors (3)

Upper Division Required Courses (24 units)

Electives (21 units)

Select a total of 21 units, of which, at least 3 units from each of the following groups:

A. Linguistics and Language

At least 3 units from the following:

B. Spanish Literature

At least 3 units from the following:

C. Spanish-American Literatures

At least 3 units from the following:

D Miscellaneous Hispanic Themes
