Program Overview

This is a broad, management-oriented degree with two tracks:

  • MBA Main Track

The Main Track provides an integrated sequence of required courses and additional elective courses in selected concentrations. This program track is designed for individuals of widely varied backgrounds.  Elective courses provide for concentration in one of the following areas: Accounting, Business Analytics, Entrepreneurship, Entertainment Business Management, Finance, Healthcare Management, Human Resource Management, Information Systems, International Business, Management, Marketing, Real Estate, and Supply Chain Management.  Students may also obtain the MBA degree with a customized concentration with advisor approval.

  • Fully Employed MBA (FEMBA) Track

Having a different integrated sequence of required courses, the FEMBA Track provides unspecified - and possibly interdisciplinary - elective courses that can be tailored to the specific professional needs of different groups of students. This program track is designed for groups of working business executives who as student cohorts will complete courses on a customized timetable and usually at special locations.  The College will consider the particular needs of each group of students in selecting the specialized courses.

Admission to the Program

  • MBA Main Track

​To be admitted to the program, students must fulfill University requirements for admission to graduate study and College requirements for admission to the MBA program.  Applicants must submit a separate graduate program application to the College of Business and Economics. Applicants are admitted based on a comprehensive review of their work experience, prior education, GMAT or GRE scores, and two letters of recommendation. Applicants who document 5 years of significant work experience in a managerial or professional role, or who have completed at least 9 units of graduate-level courses in business administration within the past 5 years with a grade point average of 3.0 or better may request a waiver of the GMAT or GRE requirement.

  • Fully Employed MBA (FEMBA) Track

Applicants are admitted based on a comprehensive review of their work experience, an acceptable bachelor degree, GMAT or GRE scores, letters of recommendation, and an interview.  The work requirement will generally be three to five years of significant experience.  Applicants who document 5 years of significant work experience in a managerial or professional role may request a waiver of the GMAT or GRE requirement. In addition to meeting University requirements for admission to graduate study, applicants must submit a separate graduate program application to the College of Business and Economics.

Requirements for the Degree

A total of 36 units of 5000-level courses is required for the degree.  The University also requires demonstration of writing proficiency by enrollment in and passing UNIV 4000  Writing Proficiency Examination (0) within the first two semesters of study, or a successful petition to waive the writing examination within University policy.

MBA Main Track


All students must complete with a grade of “B” or better BUS 5000  Foundations of Business Administration (9 units) prior to taking core MBA courses.

Foundations of Business (9 units)


Culminating Experience (3 units)


The course is to be taken at the end of the student’s program.

Elective Courses (9 units)


Students should complete 9 units of 5000-level courses in the concentration.

Electives for the concentration in Accounting


Electives for the concentration in Entertainment Business Management


Students with a concentration in Entertainment Business Management should choose 9 units of electives offered by the College of Business and Economics, or the College of Arts and Letters, with advisor approval.

Electives for a customized concentration


Students with a customized concentration may choose electives with advisor approval from any of the 5000-level courses offered by the departments of the College of Business and Economics or other departments of the University.

Fully Employed MBA (FEMBA) Track


Culminating Experience (3 units)


The course is to be taken at the end of the student’s program.
