C1. Fit with the Institutional Mission / Institutional Learning Outcomes (ILO)
This credential program proposal aligns with Cal State LA’s Institutional Learning Outcomes (ILO) in the following ways:
- Knowledge: Mastery of content and processes of inquiry: This credential program will support Cal State LA students with building knowledge and skills in how to effectively teach young children and will be able to put this knowledge into practice immediately to begin teaching to support their community.
- Proficiency: Intellectual skills: Cal State LA students who complete the PK-3 ECE Specialist Instruction Credential program will gain skill and ability in writing, reading, speaking, and contributing to the intellectual development of young children. Graduates of this credential program will be able to use their intellectual abilities to solve problems and be of service to their communities.
- Place and Community: Urban and global mission: The ECE Specialist credential program at Cal State LA is guided by anti-racist and culturally and linguistically sustaining pedagogies to prepare and cultivate equity-oriented early educators who are committed to addressing issues of racial equity, linguistic justice, ecological sustainability, and disability rights through early education. Graduates of this credential program will make socially conscious and socially responsible decisions as educators.
- Transformation: Integrative learning: Graduates of this credential program will have engaged in community-oriented, creative, and scholarly field and applied work that will lead to transformation of self as well in their community. Graduates will integrate their credential program knowledge, skills and experience to address complex issues in education and act responsibly as educational leaders.
C2. Program Learning Outcome (PLO)
