Fit with the Institutional Mission / Institutional Learning Outcomes (ILO)
The Pre-Medicine/MDpas Certificate supports the mission of Cal State LA, which is to transform lives and foster thriving communities across greater Los Angeles. We cultivate and amplify our students’ unique talents, diverse life experiences, and intellect through engaged teaching, learning, scholarship, research, and public service that support their overall success, well-being, and the greater good. The new certificate will create a cohort of critically thinking and culturally, politically, and socially conscious healers from the greater Los Angeles area, trained locally to meet the unique and local needs. Moreover, the Pre-Medicine/MDpas Certificate expands the University’s ability to achieve its Institutional Learning Outcomes by preparing graduates ready to contribute to the multi-lingual and multiethnic communities that constitute Los Angeles and the world of the future. The program develops students that can engage in community, professional, creative, research, and scholarly projects that lead to changes in their sense of self and understanding of their worlds.
