The FPAT certificate in “fire service administration” is a 15-unit course-based program that helps students develop and master the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to succeed in the jobs related to fire service administration. Students who earn this certificate are prepared with knowledge and research/analytical skills, and are empowered to be successful problem-solvers in their jobs.

  1. Proficiency: Intellectual skills

Cal State LA graduates are equipped to actively participate in democratic society. They are critical thinkers who make use of quantitative and qualitative reasoning. They have the ability to find, use, evaluate and process information in order to engage in complex decision-making. They read critically, speak and write clearly and thoughtfully and communicate effectively.

The FPAT certificate in “fire service administration” helps students become successful decision-makers with the ability to lead and follow. The certificate program empowers students to analyze, integrate, and act on information, to be able to communicate and educate within the community, and to proactively inform themselves about trends and community issues in their professional duties.

  1. Place and Community: Urban and global mission

Cal State LA graduates are engaged individuals who have contributed to the multi-lingual and multiethnic communities that constitute Los Angeles and the world of the future. They are aware of how their actions impact society and the environment, and they strive to make socially responsible decisions. They are community builders sensitive to the needs of diverse individuals and groups and committed to renewing the communities in which they live.

The FPAT certificate in “fire service administration” educates students to become guardians of the community-its people and property. Therefore, they can interact with the community to protect and educate it successfully.

Graduates integrate their knowledge, skills and experience to address complex and contemporary issues and act ethically as leaders for the 21st century.

The FPAT certificate in the “fire service administration” program helps students dedicate themselves to lifelong learning. Students learn from the program that the fire service field is constantly changing to meet the needs of the community it serves.
