How will the changes fit with the Institutional Mission / Institutional Learning Outcomes (ILO)

The program has always aligned its PLOs with the ILOs. By making this program entirely online, we are furthering the ILO 3 in particular, which is Place: Urban and Global Mission. In particular, we address: c. Recognize, analyze, and help to solve issues of civic and ethical concern in local and global communities. The issues of poor health and the fact that 6 in 10 adults in the U.S. are living with chronic illnesses which are caused and worsened by poor nutrition (https://www.cdc.gov/chronicdisease/resources/infographic/chronic-diseases.htm), our program seeks to benefit communities not only locally but state-wide by offering a program that teaches students about how to prevent and treat these illnesses. We have done an analysis and our program is the only of its type in the state. If we can make it accessible to students in central and northern California through a fully online program, we will potentially help many more people to improve their health.
