Fit with the Institutional Mission / Institutional Learning Outcomes (ILO)

The proposed curriculum for MS, Business Analytics is interdisciplinary in nature, requiring students to complete a culminating project in Business Analytics (domain in Marketing, Optimization, Healthcare, etc.) Students must demonstrate high analytical skills.

Graduate Students at Cal State LA will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate mastery of major theories, concepts, approaches to inquiry and/or practices relevant to the field of study.
  2. Demonstrate information literacy and communicative fluency appropriate to the field of study.
  3. Identify and evaluate or apply diverse perspectives, assumptions, and conventions within the field of study.
  4. Articulate how advancing knowledge or practice in their field of study contributes to the public good.
  5. Frame and examine a problem through research, projects, papers, or performances in the field of study.
  6. Apply appropriate ethical standards or practices within the field of study.

The MS in Business Analytics has the following Program Learning Outcomes:

PLO 1: Establish a foundation for business analytics and interpreting data

PLO 2: Demonstrate ability to conduct research: evaluating the quality of that information, analyzing the information collected, and drawing conclusions.

PLO 3: Demonstration of the ability to communicate clearly the results of applied research.

PLO 4: Apply quantitative skills to help students solve complex problems.
