Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs)

  • Identify, analyze and differentiate historical and current entertainment industry practices.
  • Conceptualize, prepare and present live and filmic creative projects.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of production practices in theatre and film, including (but not limited to) appropriate formatting of scripts, workflow for film shoots, conducting technical rehearsals, applying dramaturgical analysis, engaging in constructive critique, approaching design collaboratively, adapting to direction as performers or directors, and understanding the roles and responsibilities of all theatrical personnel.
  • Critically appraise, compare, and evaluate historical, theoretical, conceptual, and practical approaches in the fields of television, film, and theatre-including artists, movements, events, productions, emerging technologies, and innovative business models-through both written and oral presentations.
  • Identify appropriate creative collaborators and apply professional workflows to develop projects that emphasize negotiation, communication, and decision-making within collaborative processes.
  • Generate a creative Culminating Project and critical Culminating Project Report that interprets, articulates and demonstrates techniques, concepts and theories learned over the course of the program.

1. Knowledge: Mastery of content and processes of inquiry: Clarified and more focused coursework in the options, as well as the opportunity to take more elective classes.

2. Proficiency: Intellectual skills: More opportunity for advanced coursework will demand that student combine aesthetic, critical and skill based elements. This application demands careful application and demonstration of intellectual skills

Place and Community: Urban and global mission: Addition of core coursework will allow students to further develop their skills as media makers and storytellers so they can more effectively communicate their unique stories, helping to strengthen needed diverse voices and perspectives in our media landscape.

4. Transformation: Integrative learning: Project courses serve as professionalizing experiences and serve to enhance work done inside the classroom and in conjunction with industry experiences and partnerships.
