C1. Fit with the Institutional Mission / Institutional Learning Outcomes (ILO)
The BA degree program in Theatre aligns with the University’s Mission in every way. In every aspect of our field of study - both in performance and Design & Production - our students engage in the process of learning both in the classrooms and in practice. Their academic coursework supports and frames the work done in our studios and theatres. Students engage intellectually with the material as they process and analyze text to bring it to life for an audience. The choice of material with which we focus in the classroom as well as what we choose to prioritize in our season of public presentations contributes to the University’s global and urban mission. A sense of place, belonging, and community is imbedded in all that we do in the Theatre. Communication is the single most powerful tool we have and use in the Theatre. Students find their own voices, know how to read and interpret others’ and to use them both to inspire and community-build through their art.
