C1. Fit with the Institutional Mission / Institutional Learning Outcomes (ILO)
The MA in Music at Cal State LA is designed to cultivate the unique talents, diverse life experiences, and intellect of our students through transformative musicianship, performance, and scholarship. Through coursework, ensemble study, public performance, and scholarship, students have ample opportunity to demonstrate the following departmental values that align with the University’s mission and vision:
Musical Excellence - Emphasizing the development of excellent musicianship through a diverse approach to the study of harmony, musicianship, and musicology.
Community - Building a community of music within the Department, across the University, and in the greater Los Angeles area.
