C2. Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs)

  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate successfully with native speakers of Korean in a limited range of contexts (personal, familiar topics) on at least the ACTFL Intermediate level.
  • Describe some aspects of Korean culture. Analyze differences between Korean and the student’s own culture(s). Identify some well-known historical figures and events, and understand and be able to explain basic cultural characteristics of Korea.
  • Understand spoken and visual messages, live or in recordings or videos, and summarize and discuss such messages or respond to them in an interactive context, on at least the ACTFL Intermediate level. 
  • Be able to read and discuss short texts in a variety of formats (advertisements, websites, news articles, etc.).
  • Demonstrate familiarity with library and information technology as part of a well-rounded education in the humanities, and exploit such technology to find resources about Korea.
