C1. How will the changes fit with the Institutional Mission / Institutional Learning Outcomes (ILO)

This program modification involves the addition of CS 3338 Software Engineering Tools (1-unit) into the BSCS curriculum. Given the increasing complexity of modern software development, it has become an industry norm for software developers to utilize a diverse array of software technologies, including tools that streamline the development workflow and enhance collaborative productivity. This prevailing standard has received repeated validation from the IAB members. Considering the evolving demands of the industry, this modification will align more effectively with the first two of the university’s stated ILOs: 1. Knowledge: Attainment of expertise in content and the methodologies of inquiry. 2. Proficiency: Development of intellectual aptitudes.

C2. Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs)

  1. Analyze a complex computing problem and to apply principles of computing and other relevant disciplines to identify solutions.
  2. Design, implement and evaluate a computing-based solution to meet a given set of computing requirements in the context of the program’s discipline.
  3. Communicate effectively in a variety of professional contexts.
  4. Recognize professional responsibilities and make informed judgments in computing practice based on legal and ethical principles.
  5. Function effectively as a member or leader of a team engaged in activities appropriate to the program’s discipline.
  6. Apply computer science theory and software development fundamentals to produce computing-based solutions.
