The teaching credential with authorization in Single Subject Instruction qualifies holders to teach in their authorized field at any grade level, preschool, kindergarten, and grades 1 through 12, or in classes organized primarily for adults. California State University Los Angeles is authorized by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) to prepare students for Single Subject
Teaching credentials in the following subject matters:
• Art
• English
• Industrial and Technology Education
• World Languages - Languages Other Than English
• Mathematics
• Music
• Physical Education
• Science: Biological Sciences, Science: Chemistry, Science: Geosciences, Science: Physics, or Foundational-Level
General Science
• Social Science
Students can earn a Single Subject Teaching credential as undergraduate students or as post-baccalaureate (graduate) students.
Undergraduate students earning a bachelor’s degree in any of the above fields who would like to earn a Single Subject Teaching credential concurrently with their bachelor’s degree should read the information below and seek advice about the integrated option in their degree program from advisors in their program and from the Charter College of Education Office for Student Services.
