Minor in Korean

The minor in Korean is available for students majoring in other fields. It provides students with Korean language proficiency and knowledge of Korean society and its culture. It may be of particular value to students interested in the study of languages and literatures, the entertainment industry, history, culture and politics of Asia, or in employment with Korea-related businesses or government.
KOR 100ABC is prerequisite to this program and may be satisfied by appropriate high school preparation or by examination.
Note: If a student’s language proficiency, assessed by American council on the teaching of foreign languages oral proficiency interview, is high enough for the student to be waived from the courses, KOR 200A, 200B, 200C, 300A, 300B, and 300C may be substituted by Korean courses that have equal or higher numbers.

Note: If a student’s language proficiency, as assessed through an oral proficiency interview administered by a faculty member in Korean, is high enough, other advanced Korean courses may be substituted for KOR 200A, B, and C and KOR 300A, B, and C.
