Overview

The Department of Asian and Asian American Studies offers an interdisciplinary B.A. degree program that examines Asian and Asian American communities within the context of history, culture, politics, racial formation, and social justice. Students learn to analyze the intersections of race and ethnicity, gender, class, and power within local, national, and global contexts. The program emphasizes critical inquiry, analysis, and action so students can create positive change in themselves and the world around them.

Students with a degree in Asian and Asian American Studies are equipped with important skills necessary in every career, such as critical thinking, data analysis, creative problem-solving, community building, and communication. Our graduates pursue careers in education, public health, social work, counseling, journalism, public policy, international relations, non-profit organizations, community organizing, and other socially engaged pathways.
