Course Description: This course examines historical trajectories, political responses, and cultural representations of the Global War on Terror. Since September 11, 2001, U.S. foreign policy has been centered on the identification and elimination of terrorist activity, at the cost of approximately $1 trillion and hundreds of thousands of civilian lives in Southwest Asia/North African (SWANA) nations. In this course, students will analyze media accounts, public policies, and the histories of “terrorism” to examine how covert and overt wars have been normalized in American politics and culture. Credit Hours: 3 lecture hour(s) per week
