Course Description: Dance is observed as a means of understanding cultural differences and historically specific dance contexts. By learning dance as a symbolic interaction, students see culturally unique ways of expressing core values. The class focuses on exploring approaches toward World Dance instruction, and engages in the analysis and performance of a variety of world traditions from Africa, North America, the Middle East, South Asia, Asia, Polynesia, and South America. Learners engage with topics while learning dance movement, watching videos, and doing readings. Credit Hours: 1 lecture hour(s) 4 activity hour(s). per week
