Course Description: Maltreatment and children’s communication development/dysfunction relative to social-emotional and cognitive development; communication demands in judicial, legal, and intervention processes; principles for interacting with and interviewing maltreated children. Some sections of this course may include a service learning component where students volunteer in a community program addressing communication about violence and abuse for 2 hours per week. Some sections may be offered online or hybrid. Credit Hours: 3 lecture hour(s) per week
