The Bachelor of Science degree in Nutritional Science is designed to prepare students for entry level positions in nutrition, dietetics, or food service. The curriculum also provides the foundation for students to continue their education at the graduate level.

The total number of units required for the Bachelor of Science degree in Nutritional Science is 120. Consult with an advisor for the units required in all areas of the degree including General Education courses and free electives.

Requirements for the Major (66 units)


The Bachelor of Science degree in Nutritional Science requires a total of 120 units. The major requires 16  units in preparatory courses plus 50 units, 44 in the core and 6 electives. All courses in the program may only be repeated once.

A minimum C grade is required in all courses used to meet major requirements.

Electives (6 units)


Students will complete two electives (6 units). The electives include content specific to functional/holistic nutrition, community nutrition, nutrition entrepreneurship, sports nutrition and food safety.  If four are taken from the same content cluster, it may lead to a certificate.  Please consult with an advisor about the requirements for each certificate program.
